Best Winter Movies…
In my biased opinion.
I like to watch Chirtsmassy, snowy movies around this time of year, but what with buying a tree, decorating the house, sending out cards, wrapping presents, baking cookies and preparing brunch and dinner for the actual Christmas Day; I simply don’t have hours to while away watching my fave flicks.
I thought you might enjoy a light-hearted post, since I tend to go heavy and deep. So grab your mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows; though coffee will do just fine in a pinch, and check out my list. Please comment on what your personal fave movie is so I can watch it, too.
In no particular order:
- Christmas in Connecticut. I’ve been watching this for over ten years, and this comedy/drama is full of snow, happiness and humor. It’s a feel good movie if there ever was one. Watch this if you love snow!
- Elf. The premise is excellent, and watching Will Farrell play the adopted elf is incredibly funny. I love the mail room scene. Well, so many scenes are excellent.
- The Bell’s of St. Mary’s. Christmas plays a smaller part in this film, but it’s there, with Bing singing and Ingrid Bergman acting superbly.
- Meet Me in St. Louis. Want to hear Judy Garland sing, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas? Then watch this film that takes place in about 1910. The snowy scene is gorgeous!
- White Christmas. I adore the fab four in this flick. They dance and sing, and I watch this while I wrap presents. Fun!
- It’s A Wonderful Life. If you’re feeling blue and like you don’t matter for much, watch this. If George Bailey can find happiness in his crummy circumstances, so can we. This film helped a family member who had moved and hated it. So please watch this if you need a boost, because this one delivers.
- A Charlie Brown Christmas. Linus sums up the whole point of Christmas. Poignant and sad, because adults really miss what matters about Christmas. It’s Christian and it needs to be heard by us. We used to camp out here, but the wokerattai decided Christianity wasn't cool, so they stopped watching. Snoopy dancing is just one reason why you should take another look.
There are many more, but I thought if there was a film on here you haven’t seen, why not give one of these new ones a try. You might like it! You might start your own tradition of watching as you wraps the gifts to yourself,( just remember to look surprised when you do manage to procure the one item that wold bring you happiness). Well, it’s for when you find something that would at least make you smie. So do it. Buy yourself some hot chocolate mix, and voila, you have an instant Christmas for yourself.
I sincerely want to wish you happiness during this month of lights, laughter and fun. Hold onto these moments, because one day things will change. Enjoy the now.
