The Royals

And what the more visible ones have been up to lately…

I happened to be online doing some work, so I had a Lifetime movie on my t.v. about Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan, finding bliss outside the horrible confinement of being a working royal. The made-for-television movie was so heavily skewed in favor of Harry and Meghan that I rolled my eyes and laughed, but since I worked through commercials I decided to see it through until the end. Plus, I thought it was a rerun. How many specials are out there?

It made Catherine and Prince William look uppity, conceited and uncaring. Especially William. Did Meghan’s people write this movie? I’m wondering who did, because the story made Harry and Meghan out to be the most victimized people of the last four years. We know from many people how well-liked and approachable William and Catherine are, and I think it’s a shame Harry is trying to get his fan base to hate on his father and brother. (This show didn’t do Prince Charles any favors either.)

Rumors persist about the demise of Harry and Meghan’s marriage, and people drive by their mansion and never see lights on. Life was the same at Frogmore Cottage, so what’s up with that? I did have neighbors who had no curtains and never had lights on after dusk, so I decided they must sleep a lot. Maybe the Sussex couple just doesn’t like lighting after dark. I laugh at the rumors, because I’m still waiting for baby Lili to be spotted out with her big brother, Archie. Then I’ll ponder the marriage.

In the meantime, Prince William and Catherine brought their three children up to Balmoral Castle in Scotland where the Queen is summering. They came up on the last weekend before the new school year starts, which I believe is sometime this week. It sounds like Prince George will be going back to Thomas’s Battersea with his younger sister, Princess Charlotte, and little Prince Louis will be attending pre-school again. Louis will start at Thomas’s Battersea next year. To think George is eight now!

I honestly thought Harry and Meghan had given up on their request of having Lilibet christened in Windsor, and it seems like they keep asking. They just don’t get the word, no, do they? Well, the Obamas said no to them, and suddenly Harry is placing frantic phone calls to his family. Who on earth would publicly say awful things about their brother, father, and grandmother and then hope they’d be welcomed back? Publicly trashing one’s family usually means no invites to Thanksgiving dinner, and don’t even ask for the priceless christening gown.

Harry is coming out with his memoir around the holidays, so why would he think his family back home would open themselves to the anger of British citizens, which matters much more than the court of American opinion. Harry and Meghan need to look royal more than the royal family needs them. The royals in Britain have figured out how to get by without Harry doing his fair share of the work, and Meghan wasn’t into being a public servant very much.

And I haven’t climbed on Twitter for almost a week, but tonight I had time. TMZ keeps tweeting that there was a surrogate who had baby Lilibet, except she didn’t have all her bills paid? I don’t know much about surrogacy, but I would think contracts would be drawn up ahead of time and signed. I’ll just shake my head at that one and move on. Much ado about nothing.

Queen Elizabeth is enjoying her time in Scotland, and the weather this time of year is lovely. Well, it supposed to be lovely, but they are having a bit of a heat wave at the moment. Hopefully castles stay cooler in the heat.

It sounds like most members of the royal family did make it up to see the Queen now, and when she comes back it will only be to Windsor Castle. Which brings up the interesting idea of the Cambridge family living in Windsor. Some say they are even thinking of living in a wing at Windsor Castle to be nearer to the Queen, which is lovely and thoughtful. I wonder if it will really happen.

Hopefully, we’ll have the first day of school photos to look at, but after the tough time Prince George has been getting lately we may not see anything this year. Next year when Louis starts school a new family photo should be released. That’s about all I have for this week’s version of royal news. I’m off to read about the Queen now. She’s led an interesting life!
